The Yellowknife Ice 18U girls volleyball team wrapped up an exciting and memorable week at the Volleyball Canada Nationals, held in Edmonton from May 21 to 26. While the final results didn’t land in our favor, the experience was packed with intense competition, growth, and unforgettable moments.

Throughout the tournament, the Ice faced strong teams from across the country—and every match was close. Most sets came down to just 2 or 3 points, with the girls battling hard from the first serve to the final whistle. They met every challenge head-on with resilience and determination.

What stood out most was how the team improved with every set. Whether it was tighter teamwork, smarter plays, or more confident communication, the Ice got stronger each time they stepped on the court. Their commitment to learning and growing as a unit was truly impressive.

Despite the tough competition, the atmosphere remained positive and energetic. The players supported each other every step of the way, bringing enthusiasm, focus, and plenty of smiles to the court. Everyone had fun, and the team spirit was second to none.

Representing Yellowknife on the national stage is an incredible achievement in itself, and these athletes did so with pride, class, and heart. They showed that northern teams belong at this level and can compete with the best.

A big thank you goes out to the coaches, families, sponsors and Volleyball NT for their ongoing support. Opportunities like this wouldn’t be possible without a dedicated community behind the scenes.

We are so proud of what the Ice accomplished at Nationals. The experience, growth, and memories made this an unforgettable tournament!
